Frozen is Coming to Broadway in Spring 2018

For the third time in forever, Disney is taking one of their animated features to Broadway. After Aladdin and the insanely popular production of The Lion King, Frozen is on track to hit the stage in 2018, with Alex Timbers as director. Plan accordingly.

After lots of rumors and speculation, Frozen finally has a production team and a target premiere date. The music of Frozen almost became more popular than the movie itself, and I can’t remember a recent Disney movie that spawned anywhere close to as much singalong enthusiasm as there is around “Let it Go” alone, without even including the rest of Frozen‘s hits. Those songs are made to be belted, and now we’re going to hear the very best belt them. We’ll even get to hear some new classics written exclusively for the stage production.

Disney plans on having Frozen ready for a spring 2018 debut, which we think is a little disappointing. Not because of the 2018 part, though — we can wait, we’re patient people. We just think it would be criminal if Frozen debuted in any season that’s not winter. Come on guys, this is no-brainer stuff. If we don’t have to tunnel through 10+ inches of snowfall to go see Frozen on stage, we’re going to feel like we’re missing part of the experience. Surely the cold doesn’t bother Broadway that much?
