So, Zoolander 2 opens this week, and while its hotness is still to be determined, it is a safe assumption that the premiere was always going to be a, uh, special event. No one’s going to that red carpet premiere in anything less than their Zoolander best, and while Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson delivered, no one upstaged Susan Sarandon’s son, Miles Robbins.
In what may have been an audition for Zoolander 3, Robbins wore a baby blue blazer with stuffed animal parts stitched on and Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony perched on his shoulder. That was matched with patent leather grey loafers that wouldn’t have looked out of place in colonial Boston and, um, not much else. Dude didn’t wear pants. White stockings, yeah, but no pants. If that’s his way of telling Zoolander to get on his level, mission accomplished.
Susan Sarandon was also dressed appropriately with an enormous greyscale coat with a rose print, while Ben Stiller rocked a Matrix-looking green and black suit that honestly might have been a little too tame for the proceedings. Meanwhile, Owen Wilson wore a galactic-themed outfit, which is perfect for fashion satire because I’m pretty sure that was unironically on the runway courtesy of some major label not too long ago.
Anyway, I can’t wait for the movie so I can see how Zoolander copes with the modern smartphone. Pretty much everything else will be gravy.
