Yeah, it’s real. Twelve South, one of many Apple-friendly merch makers, has revolutionized the Candle. If you buy new MacBooks just to become intoxicated by the smell that wafts up when you unbox the things, there’s now a much more wallet-friendly way to maintain your addiction. The New Mac Candle is said to have that exact smell when burned. We admit we have not independently verified this, but boy do we hope they’re for real.
The candle is made completely from soy wax and can burn for about 50 hours. Interestingly, Twelve South may have also leaked some Apple trade secrets with the release of the candle. For the New Mac Candle, they list scent notes of mint, peach, basil, lavender, mandarin and sage, which would go far in explaining why so many companies have had difficulty replicating Apple’s success. I’d point out that apple is not listed in the scent notes, but then again, I guess apple doesn’t really have a scent of its own. Really makes you think.
The New Mac Candle will be available for $24, but it looks like Twelve South hasn’t started selling them just yet. You can sign up for email notifications, though. I’m not sure whether or not a preorder or waiting in line will be necessary, but I hope so. If I’m going to get a Mac-sceneted candle, I want the full Apple experience!
