July 2, 2015 – Vancouver, BC – Colligo, the leading provider of data synchronization solutions for Microsoft SharePoint, Office 365 and OneDrive for Business, today announces the US Patent Office has issued Colligo two patents that cover discovering, discriminating and filtering of users’ devices on Local Collaborative Networks.
“The two patents generally apply to methods for setting up private workgroups to facilitate file sharing and collaboration in medium and large organizations. The first one describes the methodology for establishing connections between users devices while the second outlines the user interface needed to setup workgroups in an efficient and effective way,” comments Barry Jinks, CEO of Colligo. “These are our 5th and 6th patents, which confirm Colligo’s technical capability in the file sharing market. Our relentless focus on providing the best user experience backed by enterprise-grade control and security ensure our customers collaboration projects are a success.”
The first patent covers the technology to identify and join participants into a Collaborative network. Finding participants over a large electronic network, a unique session identifier is sent by an inquiring participant to invite other participants. Communication is established between the participants who respond to the inquiring participant and a collaborative network is formed.
The second patent allows users to find existing Collaborative Networks, and the users of those networks, via peer-to-peer connectivity. The user queries other users on the network to determine which collaborative networks are active and can select an active collaborative network without having to be invited. In joining the network, the user can now collaborate with the group via messaging, and share files and resources peer-to-peer.
These patents add to the stable of new capabilities that are being incorporated into the Colligo Engage app platform. Launched in October 2014, Colligo Engage has led to a 292% increase in subscription revenues for the company in the last six months.
