LAKE IDA NEWS

Lake Ida is already one of the cleanest lakes in Douglas County and steps are being taken to keep it that way and even Improve its water quality. Close to $288,000 in grants for projects to keep the water quality of Ida high are coming from the State of Minnesota.

There was high demand throughout the state for lake protection projects and only three grants were awarded by the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources.

Along with other projects that will improve water clarity the goal for Lake Ida’s grant is to reduce sediment by 361 tons per year and phosphorus totals by 343 pounds per year to meet watershed goals for the lake of reducing sediment by 10% and total phosphorus by 300 pounds.
