Usman Mukhtar recently teased his upcoming film Chikkar through a cryptic Instagram post

The talented actor and director Usman Mukhtar recently hinted at his next movie, Chikkar, on Instagram with a mysterious photo. The teaser offers a sneak peek at the gripping story that addresses the difficulties and complexities in society. Mukhtar’s caption read, “We are Chikkar. “It’s the oppressed, and the oppressor” establishes the mood for a movie that looks at the relationships between hope, silence, and power.

The film teaser for Zaheer Uddin opens with a striking sequence in which Faryal Mehmood dances boldly in the middle of a group of men. This arresting picture establishes the tone for a story that explores societal issues. The teaser is steeped in symbolism, portraying a variety of settings including government buildings, lengthy hallways, dimly illuminated rooms, and expansive fields. Characters navigate these diverse landscapes with intent and purpose, hinting at the intricate layers the narrative is set to unravel.

Adnan Shah Tipu, Ushna Shah, Saleem Meiraj, Usama Javaid Haider, and Usman Mukhtar himself are among the cast members of Chikkar that are truly remarkable. Chikkar’s production firm, Dareechey Films, gives a succinct yet insightful synopsis of the movie: it explores those who speak up, people who silence themselves, and people who don’t say anything at all. The name “Chickkar,” which means “mud” in Punjabi, is used to allude to our common ancestry and unavoidable return to the earth. It also symbolizes the oppressed, who are likened to being crushed under the weight of society.

Though it doesn’t have much conversation, the teaser teases at the topic of the movie. In sharp contrast to the horrific sights that ensue, a touching video of a mother playing with her child is shown on a policewoman’s laptop. SSP Sarmad Zaman, played by Usman Mukhtar, is shown departing an office designated “Ladies Sector,” which begs interesting narrative questions. The film depicts a bloodied corpse wrapped in a sheet inside an ambulance as a way to emphasize social issues. A moving moment when a man sobs at a desk and begs, “Mujhay Bacha Lo Sahab!” comes to an end. (Sir, save me!).

The title’s enigmatic allusion to “8 Days” creates suspense and makes viewers want to find out what it means. Chikkar seems to be a provocative examination of oppression, societal issues, and the resiliency of the human spirit. The picture is scheduled to open in theaters on December 22, 2023, and it has a strong teaser and an impressive cast.
