Why our Train & Board, Dog Training Programs

Why our Train & Board, Dog Training Programs.

With an increasing amount of doggy boot camps, and Board and Training courses, it can certainly be hard to pick the right one to suit you and your furry family members.

To help in providing “a why” to consider us, we have listed below the goals of our training programs (Train & Board and other training services).

Our training programs primary goal is to ensure the continuation of your furry family member remaining in your home and with your loving family.

We understand that challenges may come up between you and your furry friend, and as an extension of our primary goal, our trainers focus on the areas you both are struggling with. Developing a training plan to best suit you and your dog’s needs.

Our training approach is balanced, otherwise known as Operant Conditioning. Whether it is mainly focused on a more positive approach with little consequences or a mixture of the both. We adapt the approach to best suit your dog and how they learn.

Whether you are after assistance with general obedience, managing bad manners, dog reactivity or any other challenge. Our training team are here to help, and only want the best for you and your dog.

Choosing between a Train & Board, Personal Lessons and Dog Training Classes.

The next challenge that you may face, is which of the above options will best suit what you are after and meet what your dog requires.

A simple way to look at this would be to ask the following questions:

Do I want to be involved in my dog’s training from the beginning and remain along every step of the way?

If you answer yes to this question, then Personal Lessons and Classes are probably more suited to what you are after.

Both of these services are available through our facility.

Do I need help to solely establish solid foundations, and then continue on maintaining and improving the training with my dog myself with assistance when needed?

Train & Boards are ideal for establishing solid foundations on your behalf, or for those who are time poor or just need that “bit extra” assistance with training their dog. The key thing to remember with any “boot camp” is ensuring you follow the training implement and continue it on at home.

To help with this, all our Train & Boards (excluding Puppy Residential) have a Lifetime Support Guarantee included in it. This simply means that you can have free follow up lessons with our Trainers for the rest of your dog’s life.

Do I need to keep things calm and simple, to begin with, while establishing solid foundations?

If this is the case, then you would be best to start with Personal Lessons first. Personal Lessons are ideal for dogs who need to learn to the basics before introducing distractions. Dog’s who are too distracted by everything or with particular subjects. Even for dogs with reactivity and anxiety issues.

As you progress in Personal Lessons, your trainer will be able to advise and recommend when you both are ready for group settings (classes) or exploring more intensive environments.

Do I need to work my dog with more distractions, in a controlled environment?

If this is the case, the classes are perfect for you. Classes provide a lot of distractions of other dogs and people. Usually in a controlled environment as well. Classes are a great stepping stone between working in controlled, low distraction environments to uncontrolled environments with varying intensities of distractions such as the local park or dog beach.

We hope this blog has helped provide clarity around finding a dog trainer, dog training organisation, training approach and training services that would best suit you and your dog.

If you ever have any questions in regards to our training, we are simply a phone call or email away and more than happy to help.
