Arbe Rolls Out its First 4K High-Resolution Imaging Radar Development Platform

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Arbe, the next-generation 4D Imaging Radar Solutions provider, recently announced the availability of their Radar Development Platform to help support customers in revolutionizing their imaging radar systems. Currently, Arbe has partnerships with more than 20 tier-1 and OEM customers in the US, China, Europe, Japan, and Korea that are developing their next-generation radar system based on Arbe’s Imaging Radar Development Platform. With this launch, Arbe technology-based radars are all set to be installed in vehicles on the road as early as 2022.

The radars available in the market currently process 12 channels, and industry radars in the making promise 192 channels. Whereas, Arbe’s chipset processes 2304 (48X48) channels, offering 2K ultra-high resolution, far beyond what any other radar in the market can provide. Thanks to the superior resolution and object detection in all environment settings, which allows it to track vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, bicycles, scooters, and stationary objects, Arbe’s imaging radar solution prevents the causes of some of the ADAS road accidents and saves lives. Additionally, it eliminates false alarms so that ADAS and AV systems can finally rely on the radar reading.

The Development Platform for 4D Imaging Radar also serves as a base for advanced perception capabilities such as accurate real-time inference of the vehicle’s ego-velocity and in-lane localization. After processing, the radar data helps in tracking and classifying objects in the entire field of view of the vehicle and identifies their orientation and motion vector. This data also provides accurate free space mapping to differentiate drivable from non-drivable environments and in any weather or lighting condition.

Arbe’s Imaging Radar Development Platform has:

1. The complete Arbe imaging radar chipset with RF transmitter and receiver chips of 2K channels and the patented imaging radar processor capable of processing 30Gbps of radar data. The patented chipset gives ultra-high resolution and supports 100,000+ detections per frame.

2. The platform includes a radar antenna with the densest channel array in the industry, delivering a form factor orchestrated to perfectly fit the automaker’s current sizing and vehicle mounting specifications.

3. The platform also includes a software layer that abstracts the hardware access and scheduling.

4. Moreover, it has a reference design to guide the tier-1 and OEM customer’s radar system development.

According to Kobi Marenko, CEO at Arbe, the Radar Development Platform’s launch marks a new reality for the road, moving from a theory to an actuality that is being used by users worldwide. He further elaborated that reaching this milestone puts Arbe ahead of the automotive radar industry.

About Arbe

Founded in 2015, Arbe uses High-Resolution Radar to build the future car’s eyes and brain, allowing it to “see” the environment in any given weather and lighting condition. Headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel, Arbe is paving the way for a radar revolution, enabling truly safe driver-assist systems, all the while laying the foundations for a completely autonomous driving experience.
