The 2020 ETRC DIGITAL RACING CHALLENGE hosts the penultimate rounds of the Championship at the famous Le Mans Bugatti Circuit with the Apollo Tyres Tor Truck Racing team hoping for better fortunes this time out. 

At Zolder, Shane Brereton was battling with Jamie Anderson for an eighth-place finish, and pole position for the reverse grid Race, before a collision, saw the Apollo Tyres driver collect a 30-second penalty for the incident and with limited time remaining his valiant efforts to claw back this disadvantage were to no avail falling 13 seconds shy of obtaining the coveted pole position.

Unfortunately, the Apollo Tyres Tor Truck Racing MAN failed to finish race two, Antonio Albacete ending the team’s hopes with an early race collision which left the vehicle stricken with no steering capability.

The Apollo Tyres Tor Truck Racing team driver, reflecting on the experience at Zolder and the prospects of Le Mans on Sunday 2nd August, spoke exclusively to FLEET SPEAK.

‘We were disappointed at Zolder, a few errors denied us the opportunity of starting the reverse grid race on pole position, we thought the penalty imposed was harsh but that’s racing, again we fell victim to a collision and the steering froze completely so we could not get to the pits to reset the server and the race ended for us’.

‘The Bugatti Circuit is one of my favourite circuits, in the ETRC Championship round last year we finished eighth and the Apollo Tyres truck started Race 2 in pole position, I would welcome this in our digital experience and we are improving even if the results have not yet shown that improvement, maybe our luck will change at the famous Le Mans Circuit’.

The 2020 ETRC DIGITAL RACING CHALLENGE Championship leader Norbert Kiss had a poor weekend at Zolder by his standards, server problems meant he started from the back of the grid for race one, climbing through the field to secure second place behind Sascha Lenz but the second race proved more difficult as Britain’s Jamie Anderson recorded his first race win and Kiss off the podium for the first time this season.
