New boss doesn’t have time to hold my hand

Tags: boss hold

I just started a job about 4.5 weeks ago. The work itself is pretty heavily technical with a lot of weird infrastructure decisions made before I started. I am in the process of learning the ins and outs and in my third week I had a few user stories to be put in sprint. I misunderstood my Boss and they weren’t ready for a quite small fix. I apologized and worked on correcting them. In the meantime trying to get information from the boss and they felt they were repeating themselves multiples times with me. Suddenly in the past week they’ve gone cold, ignoring my materials and questions. I’ve tried going thru colleagues but I feel like I’m just divining the maybe possible answer to the issue when my boss has in their mind what they really want.

I approached my boss earlier this week in a 1:1 and they responded they don’t have time to hold my hand. The only interaction I’ve really gotten has been during our 1:1s and then there’s nothing for the rest of the week.

Now I’m trying to engage and they pretend I’m invisible. I suspect I’m about to be fired. It really hurt to hear they didn’t have time for me. But I understand, I’ve been working for many years and should be self sufficient. But I’m completely lost and don’t know what to do here.
