If you’ve ever put together your own television Table, you’ll likely know that it can involve a lot of stress and a lot of time simply because of the sheer number of components involved. From drawer pieces to shelves and stands, it takes most of us plenty of time just to master the instructions, if at all. If you’re feeling that moving day stress, this quick guide will show you some clever tips to minimise the risk of damage to your TV table without having to dismantle it for the removalists.
Cover the Edges
The edges of your TV table can become a bit of a hazard during the removal process – they can cause damage and be damaged on the way out by hitting doorways or hit something else inside the truck. An easy way to protect your TV table’s edges is to wrap them in just a few layers of bubble wrap. Bubble wrap is typically very inexpensive and a few metres can come in handy for other things during your move as well. If however you saved the bubble wrap from the original packaging you can save a few bucks while reducing waste by reusing that.
Wrap the Legs
You can achieve an excellent layer of cushioning by using soft polystyrene blocks that will protect from damage even if the table is accidentally dragged along the ground. Polystyrene is an excellent shock absorbing material making it a good choice for protecting the table legs from any bumps, knocks or scratches. Ensure you tape the polystyrene securely around the legs to prevent it from coming loose during the transport process. When it comes to wrapping the legs, use as many layers as possible to really secure the legs from damage.
Cloak the Table
If you’re choosing to preserve your sanity and avoid dismantling your TV table, the best protection you can give it is to cloak it fully in a soft blanket to prevent any chipping and gouging from other objects hitting the table. The blanket will form a soft protective layer that can prevent the table from being damaged during the transport. If for instance there are poor road conditions the removal truck can’t avoid, sudden jerks can cause the table to jostle or tip and crack. In this instance the blanket will soften the blows and mitigate the potential damage.
