More Than Making Revenue, Startups Also Have A Moral Obligation

Startups have ushered in a new world and a new era. Created by people who are driven towards a common goal, Startups are safely touted as the doorway to an enterprising and bright tomorrow. While there are people working towards refurbishing the technology of tomorrow from the way we know it now, there are a few who are working towards making the world a better place.

Triggering emotions by urging people to put their best foot forward is what some foundations are working at achieving. From improving the living conditions of people living in slums to increasing women safety, startups have shifted from being solely focused on making life easier to personal and overall development. While these startups are focusing on issues that are still at a macro level, there are a few who are focusing on issues at the micro level.

One of the major issues in India currently is educating the girl child. Taking up the issue, the startup accelerator program Startup Leadership Program is conducting a one of a kind startup event providing a platform for all entrepreneurs, startups, investors and innovators to work for a social cause. The Startup 5K Run aims at raising funds to spread awareness about educating the girl child and providing education to as many as 200 girls in the country in line with the #BetiBachao #BetiPadhao initiative.

Started by the Government of India, Beti Bachao Beti Padhai initiative aims to ensure the survival of the girl child and provide proper education without any gender bias. This mass campaign and multi-sectoral action plan has been started in close to 100 gender critical districts across the country in collaboration with the Ministry of Women & Child Development.

The Startup Leadership Program in association with Sankalp and Pratyusha Support wants to create awareness and help raise funds for the girl education and welfare of women in India. With more people coming together for such a noble initiative, it is but a matter of time before India becomes a country led by women. The run, according to SLP, is a step forward in a movement which is going to create limitless possibilities for numerous collaborations amongst people who share the same belief, who want to start something new and create an impact which is indefinable.
Pratyusha Support serves the underprivileged by delivering some unparalleled medical support to women and children while fulfilling wishes of those children suffering from life threatening medical conditions. Conceptualized by Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Pratyusha Support works with hospitals such as Rainbow, Continental, Livlife and Ankura among others to provide medical services.

On the other hand, Sankalp uses education as one of the most effective tools to eradicate poverty from the grassroots level. The Sankalp foundation aims to build a strong generation by providing the basic needs with a quality education in a child-friendly and healthy atmosphere to deprived children.

Although advancement of technology is a crucial aspect of developing a country, startups working towards such social issues are making sure the future generation is prepared to further enhance the technology! Be a part of this unique 5K run! In invest in a girl’s education today and she will feed herself, her children, her community and her nation.
