How to reduce packaging waste

The amount of Packaging the UK uses has increased dramatically over the last several years, especially with the extensive growth of the online shopping market.

Here are some tips on how to reduce your packaging waste:

  • Streamlining your packaging to ensure that you are not using excess box sizes and materials to ship your products. In some instances, this may mean looking into having a couple of different sized boxes to suit the different products you are sending out rather than a 1 size fits all box that means you must fill the box with excessive amount of protective packaging to ship a small item. This can save money on packing materials and shipping charges along with the reduction of waste that would end up in landfill.

  • Shelf ready packaging & Retail ready packaging can be an option with many products. This allows the items to be shipped in their display packaging as the outer and reduces the amount of protective packaging required.

  • Using recyclable packaging also ensures that the minimal amount of waste ends up in landfill. This can be done by switching from bubble wrap or foam roll to corrugated roll which is 100% recyclable. You could also switch from foam protective corners to cardboard corners which are made from recycled paper and again are 100% recyclable,
