BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The Brownsville Border Patrol Station (BRP) hosted the City Leaders Citizens Academy graduation ceremony for Class Sessions 143 and 144.

On Thursday, the BRP Station held a graduation ceremony for 11 Brownsville city leaders and Cameron County officials. The four-week academy incorporated a wide range of activities and trainings to include a line tour of the BRP Area of Responsibility. While on the line tour, the participants walked through dense brush trails, received a brief demonstration on sign cutting and tracking while utilizing night vision equipment and thermal imaging cameras to scan the river. Additionally, they participated in a Use of Force scenario, a weapon safety briefing, firearms familiarization. Border Patrol Agents belonging to the All-Terrain Vehicle and Riverine units briefed the graduates as to the training and their daily responsibilities.

Each graduate left with a better understanding of the different duties a Border Patrol Agent does on a daily basis. Graduates received an operational briefing from Rio Grande Valley Sector Executive Officer Jose Garza and thanked each graduate for their dedication.
