PSJA ISD high school chess team advances to State  

PSJA Students will be competing at the 2018 Texas State Scholastic Chess Championship to be held March 2-4, 2018 at Edinburg North High School.

PHARR – Thirteen students in the PSJA T. Jefferson T-STEM Early College High School Chess Club recently competed at the 2018 Region X Chess Championships at La Joya High School Jan. 20 and advanced to the State competition. The students will be competing at the 2018 Texas State Scholastic Chess Championship in March.  

For over 80 years, the Texas Chess Association has served Texas chess players with tournaments, publications, chess club development, and as the designated Texas affiliate of the United States Chess Federation. 

The following students will be competing at the 2018 Texas State Scholastic Chess Championship to be held March 2-4, 2018 at Edinburg North High School: 

  • Julio Aguilar, 12th grade 

  • Adrian Huerta, 11th grade 

  • Sabas Moya, 12th grade  

  • Juan Mejia, 12th grade 

  • David Valdez, 9th grade 

  • Adolfo Garcia, 12th grade 

  • Jorge Orozco, 12th grade 

  • Kirk Miller, 12th grade 

  • Jesus Galvan, 9th grade 

  • Armando Medrano, 11th grade 

  • Jennifer L. Crossman, 11th grade 

  • Victoria Sanchez, 12th grade  

  • Drayvine Mancha, 12th grade

    PSJA Students will be competing at the 2018 Texas State Scholastic Chess Championship to be held March 2-4, 2018 at Edinburg North High School.
