Weather concerns prompt UTRGV to move Brownsville outdoor commencement ceremony to McAllen Convention Center

Texas Border Business

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS – DEC. 13, 2017 – Due to the threat of inclement weather, Friday’s Outdoor Commencement Ceremony on the UTRGV Brownsville Campus has been moved indoors, to help ensure the safety of the university community and commencement guests.

UTRGV will implement its inclement weather plan, which means the Ceremony now will take place Friday at the Mcallen Convention Center.

The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. – an hour later than previously scheduled – to allow extra travel time for those planning to attend.

Tickets are not required to attend the ceremony, but seating is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

The ceremony also may be viewed LIVE online at www.utrgv.edu/live or on the UTRGV Facebook page.

Saturday’s ceremonies will proceed as scheduled: 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., at the McAllen Convention Center.

For more information and for the latest updates, visit the UTRGV Commencement page.
