The Amazing World of Indian Silk

Indian Silk has been famous since the time memorial.It has been traded in early civilisations because of its high quality and demand. No wonder why we see foreigners and celebrities so impressed and eager to wear Indian silk . It has all the glamour and elegance which can’t be replaced by any other attire.

       Mostly Indian silk is used to make beautiful sarees which can be worn irrespective of time and place.For special occasion ,they can be paired with jewellery to bring out the perfect party look.Silk is also one of the most choosen bridal wear in India. Different states of India have different types of silk saree as their specialty.

       Assam silk has three major types of indigenous wild silks of Assam— Golden Muga, White Pat and Warm Eri silk. Muga silk is known for its lustrous fine texture and durability. It can be hand-washed with its lustre increasing after every wash. Very often because of its durability the silk outlives its owner. Pat silk is usually brilliant white or off-white(creamy)in colour. Its cloth can dry even in shadow. Speciality of Eri silk is its softness and warmth and is popular as shawls and quilts.
   
       Karnataka contributes to  nearly 70% of the country’s total mulberry silk. In Karnataka, silk is mainly grown in the Mysore district. It is famous for its North Indian and South Indian cultural fusion and purity.

Kanchipuram silk sarees out stand others due to  their intricate weaving patterns and the quality . Kanchipuram silk sarees are large and heavy because of the zari work on the saree. Mostly they are still hand woven by workers.

           A Banarasi silk sari among the finest saris in India and are known for their gold and silver brocade or zari, fine silk and opulent embroidery.Their special characteristics are Mughal inspired designs ,heavy gold work,compact weaving,figures have small details,metallic visual effects
pallus,jal (a net like pattern) and mina work

                Traditional designs from hundreds of years have great impact on the weavers which leads to symbols and verses being woven into the fabrics itself .In order to maintain balance between motifs, various geometrical patterns like chevron, checks, straight or diagonal lines, mothra etc are commonly used.

                       With such variety and quality,Indian silk serves as the best option for any woman across the globe.It fits and highlights every type of figure and silk tone.These days there are different styles of wearing a saree which can be further used as a tool to enhance the appearance of the owner.This is the amazing world of Indian silk for amazing women of today.
