The Jazz Festival Continues its Investment in Istanbul as it Returns for the Seventh Year

As the holy month of Ramazan continues through the hot long days of June, the nights are filled with the soul searching, feet tapping sound of jazz. International stars are arriving in Istanbul to support the festival. The festival is popular and well attended commencing at 21.30, after the Iftar meal, the people of Istanbul can wander to listen to a variety of concerts in a number of different venues. The concerts started June 10th to the last concert on June 27th. Festivals of this calibre continues to show the social and arts investment in Istanbul. For those considering investment in Istanbul themselves, this is further proof of the city’s vibrancy and diverse attractions. Attractions that are not only for tourists but for the residents of Istanbul. The Jazz festival is supported by international and national artistes and let us hope its investment in Istanbul continues for a lot more years. This year’s concerts will appeal to all so at least try to attend one during the month. Tickets can be purchased through Biletix. Remaining concerts are as follows:- Saturday June 18th At the Sakıp Sabancı Museum, the Ensemble Olivinn will be playing. This German group consists of composer- pianist, Sinem Altan; Anatolian saz player Özgür Ersoy; soloist, Begüm Tüzemen and percussionist, Axel Meier. Tuesday June 21st At the Zorlu PSM Main Theater Stage the incomparable, mesmerizing voice of Hindi Zahra, the French-Moroccan singer and actress. The wonderful blend of music genres will be heard through some of her most popular songs, including, ‘Beautiful [email protected], ‘Stand up’ and ‘Silence’. A must go-to if you can. Thursday June 23rd Markus Stockhausen, German composer and trumpet player will be entertaining us with the dulcet tones of his trumpet at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum Monday June 27th The final concert of Ramazan in Istanbul this year will held at Sakıp Sabancı Museum and playing for us will be John Balke and Friends. John, a Norwegian will be accompanied by Mouna Boutchebak on vocals and Snorre Bjerck on percussion with a guest appearance by Cenk Erdoğan -guitarist. As the Jazz in Ramazan comes to a close do not despair more jazz is on its way as the Istanbul Jazz Festival celebrates its 23rd anniversary from June 27th to July 25th 2016, more on that next time.
