Senegal To Power 25 Villages With Solar Before End Of 2018

Senegal will see 25 villages in the south-east of the country electrified with solar by the end of the year as part of a sustainable development program promoting renewable energies.

“Of the 40 villages targeted, more than 25 will be electrified in December. All installation work will be completed before the end of November. These 25 villages will have electricity by the end of December,” said Cheikh Wade, head of monitoring and monitoring at the Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency of ECOWAS (ECREE).

The regional organization is one of the program’s donors, which also benefits from the financial support of the European Union. The initiative is aimed first and foremost at communities far from the electricity grid that would not have been able to access energy for 15 or even 20 years.
