NNPC’s Marine Arm Makes First Oil Product Delivery To Nigeria In 8yrs

NIDAS, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) engaged in marine transportation of Crude Oil and petroleum products has chartered a tanker, Atlantica Bridge, to load jet fuel from Egypt for delivery to Nigeria.

This is the first oil-products tanker chartering by NNPC/NIDAS since 2011, NIDAS Managing Director Lawal Sade said. The tanker will deliver Gunvor’s jet cargo into Lagos for another NNPC subsidiary, Duke Oil. NIDAS was also said to have booked tanker Res Cogitans to load Mercuria’s gasoline cargo for early-November loading from Europe’s ARA region, according to Panos Gliatis, chartering and operation manager in London.

Part of the long-term task of NIDAS is to “own and operate fleets and play significant role in the transportation of crude oil and petroleum products in Nigeria and globally,” Sade said. She said NIDAS was seeking to work with all current NNPC direct sale, direct purchase (DSDP) partners and crude oil off-takers.
