An indigenous meter manufacturing company, Mojec International Limited, has received the Standards Organisation of Nigeria’s Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme certification, The Punch reports.
A statement from SON quoted the State Coordinator, Lagos Office III, SON, Mrs. Ngozi Ekweme, as saying that stringent regulations and strict enforcement of standards had restricted manufacture of pre- paid meters to only competent companies. She bemoaned the limited number of assemblers and manufacturers of digital pre-paid electricity meters in the country.
According to her, the company has joined the elite list of only two premium manufacturers that had been MANCAP-certified. Ekweme noted that the single phase and three phase pre-paid electricity meters assembled by the company met the requirements of the NIS IEC 62052, 62053, 62054, 62055 and 62056, stressing that over the decade, the MANCAP scheme had served to identify and distinguish quality product manufacturers in Nigeria.
