Everyone needs to know Car Terms. Between the obvious like cars, brakes, wheels and all the generic terms you can think of, there is a cavalcade of important terms that you need to know!

Drophead – Another term for convertible car. This is often dropped over in the U.K. because the head will drop to the back of the car.

Belt line – The lower end to of where the windows meet the seam of the door. This is important to determine when you are assessing damage in an accident.

Lockup – When you brake, and your wheels lock instead of rolling normally. Dangerous, especially in the rain.

Torque Steer – When your car is turning in one direction, and you give some throttle in the other.

Knock – When leftover oil or gas in a car gets trapped and explodes. If you have a knock going off, definitely take it to a mechanic.

OBD – The tool used to diagnose the problems that your car is experiencing. All mechanics have an industrial one but you can get a discount one on Amazon.

Downforce – The downward momentum of your car as it is moving quickly. This prevents your car from flipping over or flying away.

Rolls Royce Wraith InteriorDrag Coefficient – the shape of the car determines the drag of air across its surface. Sports cars are pointy because they have a smaller drag coefficient.

Oversteer – When you are turning, and your rear Tires lose traction before your front tires do.

Understeer – When you are turning, and your front tires lose traction before your rear tires do.
