Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is expected to visit Delhi to meet Congress’s interim President Sonia Gandhi today amidst the political turmoil in Rajasthan over the past week, according to the sources.

The Congress party is already struggling with the political disorder in the state over leadership change since CM Gehlot emerged as the top candidate in the party’s presidential elections.

Nominations for the presidential polls have already begun, Ashok Gehlot will most likely be submitting his nomination to Sonia Gandhi upon his arrival in Delhi today.

Notices were issued to Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) Chairman Dharmendra Rathore, the party’s chief whip Mahesh Joshi and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shanti Dhariwal for organizing a parallel meeting with the party MLAs along with their decision to not attend the Congress Legislative Party meet.

The notices were issued in response to the report provided to Sonia Gandhi by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) observers, Ajay Maken and Mallikarjun Kharge.

The disciplinary committee of Congress has given ten days to Gehlot loyalists to explain why any action shouldn’t be taken against them in the light of the parallel meeting held by these ministers in Rajasthan.

According to the sources, Gehlot told Sonia Gandhi that he was unaware of any parallel meet organised by the ministers and assured her that he was not behind the move.

Although, some sources say that Gehlot is out of the party president’s race, Gehlot’s fate remains ambiguous ahead of the meet likely to be held today in Delhi.
