Amidst the speculations of current Rajasthan Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, succeeding Sonia Gandhi as the next Congress Party President, the party has called a crucial meeting at Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s residence today evening to discuss the next leadership candidate for the state. The discussion is being held before Gehlot files his nomination for Congress president election.

Mallikarjun Kharge, the observer appointed by Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Ajay Maken, the General Secretary in charge, will attend today’s party meeting.

Sachin Pilot is the main contender for the chief ministerial post. Pilot on Friday met Rajasthan Assembly Speaker CP Joshi in the same regard.

Shashi Tharoor is expected to contest against Ashok Gehlot for the position of Congress President post. The nominations for the same are to be filed between September 24-30 but for the first three days, no action is expected due to inauspicious ‘Shrad’ dates.
