The Bible assures us when we pray continually God will answer our prayers. Now, the answer may not always what we have been expecting, but He will answer us. And we know that God sometimes can surpass our expectations. He may give us better answers than what we have asked Him for. This amazing God.
In the book of Luke chapter 11 verses 5 to 10, The Lord Jesus said “Then He said to them, “Suppose one of you has a friend, and goes to him at midnight and says, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves [of bread]; for a friend of mine who is on a journey has just come to visit me, and I have nothing to serve him’; and from inside he answers, ‘Do not bother me; the door has already been shut and my children and I are in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything.’ I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything just because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence and boldness he will get up and give him whatever he needs. “So I say to you, ask and keep on asking, and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking, and you will find; knock and keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who keeps on asking [persistently], receives; and he who keeps on seeking [persistently], finds; and to him who keeps on knocking [persistently], the door will be opened.”
The Lord promised us we shouldn’t give up. When we persistently asking we shall receive, when we persistently seeking we shall find, and when we persistently knocking, opportunities will be opened. There are answers to our prayers. It may take a little while for some of them, but the promise is that they shall be answered if we keep on persisting.
We are continuing with our series “The Kingdom Of GOD In.” Today we are going to discuss on the spirit of Fear, worry, and anxiety. They kind of relate, and the fact is that anxiety and worry are rooted in fear. So basically we are going to discuss more in details about the spirit of fear but as well as learn it’s associates which are spirit of worry and anxiety.
- Spirit of anxiety, worry, and fear
The spirit of fear, worry, and anxiety are serious issues that can really affect us and if we are not careful they can stop and hinder us from enjoying life, accomplishing our God-given purposes and dreams, and so forth. They are destiny wasters’ spirits.
We should know that these spirits when they come, sometimes they only magnify the problems, and don’t change a thing about our situations.
Maybe let’s start with anxiety. We all know that there are people who suffer with serious anxiety disorders and conditions, some to the point where they would even have depressions, panic attacks and can’t breathe well. It’s not something to ignore that doesn’t exist.
In this life so many things can happen to a person to cause them to be anxious about many things. Usually people are anxious about their reputations, whether they can cope with things in life especially when they are in positions where they can’t afford for things to collapse for them. Some are anxious because of peer pressure.
You know, our thoughts and circumstances can lie to us. The devil also can lie to us. Sometimes we get anxious and worry about things that they don’t even exist, we just assume they do. I mean if you can carefully examine your mind just for thirty minutes, you will notice that your mind is always thinking about stuff. What about this or that and is frequently wondering about all sorts of things concerning the issues of life.
In the book of Philippians chapter verses 6 and 7, Apostle Paul said “Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].
So the remedy for the spirit of anxious, worry, and fear is to pray about every circumstance and situation with thanksgiving, and make our requests known to God. And God will give us His peace, that peace that transcends all understanding to help us calm down and guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. So that we can have a sound mind.
We have to ask ourselves, what I am anxious and worrying about, does it make sense, is it realistic? What about the Word Of God, what does it say concerning what I am anxious and worrying about? We have to ask ourselves whether we are operating in a sound mind.
We need to ask ourselves why I am anxious and worrying. Where do these thoughts and feelings come from? Why I am feeling pressured with this?
In the book of 2 Timothy chapter 1 verse 7, it says that “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].
I don’t know how many times the Bible has recorded that God said we shall not fear. Some Bible Scholars say it’s a lot. There are so many Scriptures that God said do not fear.
So fear it’s from God. God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear. God has given us a spirit of power, love, and sound judgment and personal discipline. God is not an author of fear. Fear is from the devil. It’s the devil who is influencing fear, and not God.
God wants us to have self-control and well-balanced mind. God empowers us to calm down. The devil empowers us to get paranoid.
In the book of Job chapter 3 verse 25, Job has been recorded saying that “What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me.” We should always think positive and stay out of negative consciousness. Because what we constantly think and focus on we may bring about in our lives. Those we fear if not careful may come upon us.
In the book of 1 Peter chapter 5 verses 6 to 8, Apostle Paul said “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God [set aside self-righteous pride], so that He may exalt you [to a place of honor in His service] at the appropriate time, casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully]. Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour.”
The Bible says we need to cast all our anxieties, all our worries, and all our concerns to God for He cares about us and watches over us. And it also says we need to be alert and cautious at all times because the enemy prowls around like a roaring lion seeking for someone to devour. You know, sometimes these thoughts of fear and worry they come to devour us. The devil put the suggestions and convictions in our thinking pressuring us to fear, worry, and have anxiety. The devil can even use thoughts suggestions to mess up with our minds, and thinking, and our overall outlook. So we need to be alert and cautious at all times.
We should also pray and ask God for help to help us with our situations and cares of this world. We need to cast all our cares to Him. We should stand in faith to see His faithfulness. Somehow He will make a way for us out of our situations that are causing us to fear, worry, and have anxiety because we have put our trust in Him, His Word, and promises.
We need to ask the Lord in prayer for solutions on what we should do in our situations instead of making our own negative assumptions and conclusions. God is the Author of help. God is our helper. He uses various ways to help us, including people He has placed in our lives. When you receive help know that it was God Who helped you. It was God Who somehow convinced that person to remember you to help you or be good to you. It is God Who empowers us to help and be good to others.
In the book of 2 Corinthians chapter 10 verse 5, it says that “We are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ.”
When these thoughts of worry, anxiety, and fear, when they come to us, we need to ask ourselves; do they align with what God says about us and our circumstances in His Word and promises? Are my thoughts godly thoughts? And if the answer is no, then we need to change our thinking and align with the Word of God.
Sometimes we need to get to the root in order to know where these thoughts pattern are coming from. Why am I afraid? What I am worrying about? Is it because I’m afraid what others may think of me? Is it because I’m afraid I won’t pay my bills on time? Am I embarrassed of how I look for my own personal pleasing or is it because I’m afraid my husband is going to leave me? Just get deeper to the root so you know what the real issue is. Once we know, it can help us to solve our worries, anxieties, and fears.
In the book of Philippians chapter 4 verse 8, Apostle Paul said that “Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].
We should force ourselves and make a habit for ourselves to think whatever is true, honorable, worthy of respect, right and confirmed by God’s Word. And whatever is pure, lovely, that brings peace, admirable and good repute. If there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, we should continually think on these things or center our minds on them and implant them in our hearts. Let them be part of our thinking and mindsets.
Another thing the Bible says is that when we are in perfect love of God, He is going to cast out all our fears. We need to remain in the love of God and keep in mind God loves us and cares for us, so there is nothing to fear when we put our trust in Him and cast our cares, worries, and anxiety to Him, knowing that He will provide a way out for us, He will bring us solutions on our paths, so we need to remain calm.
In the book of 1 John chapter 4 verse 18, it says that “There is no fear in love [dread does not exist]. But perfect (complete, full-grown) love drives out fear, because fear involves [the expectation of divine] punishment, so the one who is afraid [of God’s judgment] is not perfected in love [has not grown into a sufficient understanding of God’s love].”
You know some of us sometimes we don’t believe that God loves us. We have made a lot of mistakes and we are not really sure that God can really forgive us because of what we have done. God is our Heavenly Father. He promised to forgive us from all our sins when we truly repent and decide to make Him the center of our lives. God is not a liar and He keeps His promises. The Bible says, God is faithful, Amen, and true.
The awesome thing is that the Bible says in the book of 1 John chapter 1 verse 9 that “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” God has power to purify us from all our sins and unrighteousness. When we turn to God, that is one of the benefits we get. What we can’t do with our own strength, God can.
I love what the Lord Jesus said in the book of Matthew chapter 6 verse 27 “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
He said in the book of Matthew chapter 6 verses 25 to 34 that “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will He not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
So as you can see, each day has enough trouble of its own. We shouldn’t worry about things we can’t control. They will sort out themselves with God’s help. We need to do what we can, and what we can’t, we should take it to God and leave it there and in exchange take His peace with us and wait for Him to give us solutions and send us help. God is not moved by our fears, worries, and anxieties. God is moved by our faith. In the book of Hebrew chapter 11 verse 6 it says “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”
He said when we seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, all these things will be given to you as well. I heard this Pastor explaining about this and he said that basically when we establish our relationship with God, what we are looking for will begin to look for us or follow us. We need to put God first, His Kingdom and His righteousness, and as we maintain our relationship with God, eventually all these things we need and want will follow us; they will be just be given to us accordingly.
There are several kinds of fear. Let’s go through some of them.
This fear warns us and protects us from danger. It warns and protects us from the things that may put us in danger through life experiences and what we have been taught. For example; when we fear to swim because we have been told don’t swim in the ocean when you don’t know how to swim.
Fear of God
This is a good fear. Fear of God keeps us safe and helps us be in the Will of God. When we have no reverence for God and do whatever we want and please, we may get ourselves in a lot of trouble and a lot of sin. You know, God warns us about different things and sins so that it can be well with us. The fear of God gives us warning that if we keep walking like this, there are going to be some consequences, so its best to walk in the ways of God.
In the book of Proverbs chapter 1 verse 7, it says that “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
Also in the book of Proverbs chapter 8 verse 13, it says that “The fear of the Lord is seen in hating evil: pride, a high opinion of oneself, the evil way, and the false tongue, are unpleasing to Me.”
Examples of this kind of fear are; you are afraid of darkness, dead people, aliens, spiders, heights, airplanes. Being insecure of your appearance, credentials and competitiveness, or other people achievements. You have tormenting fear that God really hates you that’s why you experiences severe misfortunes. Maybe something happened to you before that disappointed you, so you fear whether it’s going to happen again to you. Maybe your husband cheated on you once and you are afraid if he is going to cheat o you again. Maybe we constantly fear bad things are going to happen to us.
Fear of people
Examples of this kind of fear are; you are afraid what others are going to think about you. Fear of haters and critics. Being people pleasing because you are afraid they may not like you. The fact is that there are going people who won’t like you even if you do your best to please them.
Fear of making mistakes and failure
This fear can stop us moving forward or going after our dreams and goals because we are afraid to make mistakes and look dumb. Only God cannot make mistakes, we need to remember that. The fact is that there are some things that we can only end up succeeding after we go through some trials and errors.
Some people worry what if they fail before even they start something. What is you succeed? Failure is never permanent. We have been given a choice to try again when we first don’t succeed. It’s up to us to choose to move forward and go after our dreams and goals even if we are not sure of our outcomes.
Fear of tomorrow, and uncertainty
This is what many are struggling. We worry whether we are going to be able to pay our bills on time, whether we are going to make it let’s say we are sick. This is the number one fear that is holding a lot of people down. Like the Lord Jesus said “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” He has already provided the solution.
As we cast our cares to the Lord, we need to pray as well as rebuke and denounce these spirits and negative patterns. So we are going to pray for ourselves, our loved ones, and anyone connected to us the following prayers points;
- Father God, in the Might Name of Jesus Christ, we command the spirit of fear, anxiety, and worry to get out our systems, our thoughts patterns, and our overall mindsets. We shall respond to each of our situations and issues of life in faith, in the love of God, and in sound mind. We rebuke and cancel every temptation to fear, worry and have anxiety from the root. We choose not to worry, afraid, or be anxious. No weapon forged against us can prosper.
- Lord God, help us to trust you completely in every area our lives. Help us Lord to take every of our thoughts captive to obey You and Your Word. Help us Lord to trust that You are going to fulfill Your promises in our lives and You are going to send us on time help. Help us to trust that You will work everything for our good (Romans 8:28).
- We rebuke and remove from our lives every devour in our lives whether in thought forms or human being forms, or demonic images and memories, in the Might Name of Jesus Christ. They shall not come to pass in our lives. Our fears that we can’t immediately control shall not come to pass into our lives. No longer shall we fear, worry, and have anxiety in the Might Name of Jesus Christ this we pray.
- We come against every attack and sudden attacks, sudden deaths, sudden accidents, sudden illnesses and afflictions, panic attacks, and every attack and emergence that wasn’t expected, financially, career wise, relational, and so on in the Might Name of Jesus Christ. God shall protect us from every evil and sudden attack before even it is formed, in the Might Name of Jesus Christ. Thank You Heavenly Father. In Jesus Mighty Name we have prayed. Amen.
