Tips for Packing Your Study Room

Packing your study room is something that you might be willing to do yourself. However, you need to follow the right Packing tips. In actuality, professional movers and packers know it best how to get your study room items packed in the proper way. You can give them certain instructions or information related to the items that you wish to move or do not wish to move at all. Your professional movers are bound to assist you with the packing in every possible step. So, you can just take a back seat and relax! Of course, if you wish, you can co-operate with your movers in carrying out the packing process.

You can do some of the basic work by yourself too. The movers and packers shall take full care while packing your goods properly and safely. Also, they will help move them to the new place. Be aware of the fact that there are certain things which your movers cannot perform on their own. You should be aware about such works and perform them beforehand. This can help your movers and packers to carry on with their job without any delay.

Here are some of the steps that you can take beforehand:

  • Make sure to clean your shelves and clear them of the unnecessary stuff. After all, your movers do not know as to which items are unwanted.
  • Make sure to throw certain common items like used notebooks, broken pencils, and colors, old stationary kits, scraps, used glue bottles. These items usually occupy a lot of space in your study. Make sure that these items are not packed along with the other stuff and moved to your new home.
  • Make sure to arrange your books in different sets before they are packed. When you happen to have a huge collection of books, you should sort them according to their types, such as arrange your novels and storybooks in one pile and your course and textbooks in another. This will help you to know as to which items are packed where.

You are only supposed to do 5% of the total job when you have reliable movers like the Specialty Moving Services, with you. When you follow the above steps timely, the packers and movers will perform the rest of the 95% of the task more quickly and comfortably.

Here are some smart tips for packing your study-room related items on your own:

  • Sort and dispose certain books

When you are moving long distance, make sure to hire professional movers. You shall be charged by weight in usual. Make sure you carefully go through your books and determine what you want to keep and pay to move. Keep in mind that books are pretty heavy. Paperbacks can add up to a lot of money as well. The worst truth is that you tend to accumulate a lot of paperbacks over a short course of time. So, try getting rid of them in the first place!

  • Make use of the Right Boxes

When you are sure of which study-related items to move, choose a moderate-sized box and check to ensure that it will hold the weight and that it's free from dampness, especially if it's a used box. As far as safe packing for your books is concerned, make sure the box is solid. Do not go for used boxes in this case as it might be risky for the health of your books in the transit! The box should be immensely sturdy so that it will hold the weight and that there isn't any wetness that could harm your books. Also, use packing tape to seal the box bottom and top and a marker to label the box's contents.

  • Prepare the Boxes properly

When you buy new boxes, you will need to put them together first. Ensure that you seal the bottom well by doubling the amount of tape. When you are using a recycled box, make sure to tape the bottom again with packing tape to make sure it will sustain the weight of the books.

  • Pack Hardcover Books properly

Hardcover editions need to be packed by placing them in the box standing upright, spine against the box's side. When you pack books this way, make sure they're packed well. However, do not go too tight. This is because they can be damaged at the time of removal. In case the hardcover editions are of moderate value, wrap each one in packing paper before placing them in the box.

There are certain books that might be extremely valuable to you, such as the old photo albums or first editions. This category of books requires stiff cardboard in between each to keep the spines straight and to prevent any movement. Each book should be protected with paper and placed in a well-padded box. You can use bubble wrap or extra packing paper to line the box before you pack each book.

  • Pack Paperbacks

Hardcover editions and paperbacks can also be packed flat and stacked. Both book types may also be packed spine first with the paper edges facing up. In order to prevent damage, do not pack books with the paper edges facing down and spines up. This will cause books to warp and pages to bend.Books can also be packed using all three methods in one box. Make sure you don't pack books at odd angles. Also, use wadded-up paper to fill any remaining spaces. Keep in mind that books can shift easily during the move, causing damage.

  • Make sure to secure the Box

Make sure to tape the box closed and label it "books." Do not stack the boxes unless you can properly secure them in the moving box. Keep in mind that books are heavy. Thus, if the boxes topple, they can cause a lot of damage to furniture or other items that aren't as well protected.

  • Go for long Term Storage of Books

When you need to store books for a long period of time, make sure the storage facility is really dry and cool. In case your books are of high value, you might want to use acid-free paper instead of packing paper. Remember that acid-free paper won't deteriorate or turn yellow over time.
