Craig Alexander brings over 20 years of experience in the private sector as an economic and financial forecaster to the position of Senior Vice-President and Chief Economist. Mr. Alexander oversees the Board’s Economics Department. This group produces macroeconomic forecasts for the Canadian economy, provinces, territories, and industries. It runs centres on global commerce, tourism and municipal studies. There are also networks and centres related to immigration, skills and education policy – areas that have a significant impact on Canadian labour market outcomes. Previously, Craig was Senior Vice-President and Chief Economist for TD Bank Group—the second largest bank in Canada and the eighth largest in the United States. Prior to joining the private sector, he spent four years as an economist at Statistics Canada.
Craig is a strong and motivational public speaker who crosses the country each year giving presentations on the state of the economy and policy issues. He is a strong supporter of literacy and a champion of the charitable sector, for which he received a Queen’s Jubilee Medal.

Lee Ballin is the Head of Sustainable Business Programs in Bloomberg's Global Sustainability group. Reporting to the Chairman's Office, the team aggressively integrates sustainability considerations into all operations and co-develops products and services for the Bloomberg Professional Service, enabling our clients to evaluate sustainability market risks and opportunities.
Lee works closely with a cross-functional team conducting life cycle analysis of customer facing equipment, optimizing a complex, global logistics network to minimize carbon output of shipments, and setting paper standards for three magazine publications. Lee's communications team develops best-in-class employee engagement programs, training curriculum for operating departments and Bloomberg's GRI-based Sustainability Report, published annually. He is a frequent panelist at sustainability conferences and events speaking on topics ranging from sustainable supply chains, external reporting and employee engagement.
Lee is a Fellow at the Aspen Institutes Business and Society Program and a graduate of CORO Leadership New York, a civic leadership program. Dr. John Barrett is President and CEO of the Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA). His professional career includes Foreign Affairs, National Defence and the Privy Council Office; international organizations such as NATO; and policy think-tanks such as the Canadian Centre for Arms Control & Disarmament.
Before joining CNA, Dr. Barrett was Canada’s Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency, where he chaired the IAEA’s Board of Governors, and was Canada’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization and to the United Nations in Vienna. He has served as Ambassador to Austria and to the Slovak Republic.
Dr. Barrett has a BA (Honours) and MA from the University of Toronto, and a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics.
RICHARD CACCHIONE, PRESIDENT, HYDRO QUEBEC PRODUCTION
In April 2005, Richard Cacchione was appointed President of Hydro-Québec Production. As President of Hydro-Québec Production, he directs all generation activities, including generating station operation and development projects. He is also responsible for electricity sales and trading on wholesale markets. He joined Hydro-Québec in June 2002 as President of Hydro-Québec Équipement and was also President and CEO of the Société d’énergie de la Baie James (SEBJ) between 2003 and 2005. He was in charge of engineering, procurement and construction activities for construction projects.
From 1999 to 2002, Richard Cacchione was involved in IT Businesses. From 1992 to 1999, he worked for Aéroports de Montréal (ADM), where he started as Vice President of Finance and Administration, then became President and Head of Operations of the ADM-Capital subsidiary, followed by Executive Vice President of Operations and Marketing, and finally President of the company. From 1984 to 1992, he worked for the Lavalin Group, initially as Director of Finance, then Director of Finance and Administration, followed by Vice President of Administration and Treasurer. Prior to 1984, he held various positions in companies such as Brown Boveri Canada, Équipements Rocbec, the Coopérative fédérée du Québec and Raymond Chabot Martin Paré.
Mr. Cacchione obtained an accounting degree from the Université du Québec à Montréal in 1978. In 2003, he was named a Fellow (FCGA) by CGA-Canada, the highest distinction awarded by the association. He holds a CGA diploma from the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec (CPA) and the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada.
In addition to being a member of these associations, he sits on boards and he is also actively involved in other charitable organizations.
KAREN CLARKE–WHISTLER, CHIEF ENVIRONMENT OFFICER, TD BANK GROUP
Karen Clarke-Whistler is an environmental scientist who is widely recognized as a thought leader in environmental business matters. Prior to joining TD she spent more than 15 years consulting to a diverse base of clients in North and South America, Europe and Africa.
Karen is responsible for developing a program that embeds an environmental perspective into TD’s core business strategy. As a result, TD is recognized as a North American environmental leader and as a global climate leader.
Through Karen’s leadership TD has been able to demonstrate a strong positive link between the environment and the economy. TD’s numerous innovations include being the first North American-based bank to be carbon neutral, development of net zero energy branches, creation of low carbon product offerings, and being the first Canadian commercial financial institution to issue a green bond. Collaboration with TD Economics has resulted in a series of papers on the green economy.
Karen’s has been named one of the 2014 and 2016 Clean16 for her outstanding contribution to clean capitalism within the financial services sector. She supports a number of groups focused on environmental innovation and collaborative problem-solving, including the Boreal Leadership Council, Business Network for Sustainability, Private Sector Advisory Board to the Network Centres of Excellence (NCE) and Canada's Ecofiscal Commission – she serves as an advisor to Canada’s Commissioner of Environment and Sustainable Development.

Mr. Lydenberg provides strategic vision and direction to guide the firm’s policies, procedures, and daily practices. He exercises oversight of the integration of Domini’s social and environmental standards into its research processes and into its communications with shareholders in the Domini Funds, the corporations these Funds invest in, and the public. Mr. Lydenberg previously served as the firm’s Chief Investment Officer, Vice President of Domini Funds, and was a co-founder of the Domini 400 Social Index, the first index to utilize social and environmental standards.

An accomplished analyst and advocate, Dan has significant knowledge and experience in the field of energy and environmental policy, and has authored numerous studies and articles on clean energy and climate change policy. His recent publications include Mining for Clean Energy, which explores the role for Canadian metals and minerals in the global transition to clean energy, and The Transition Takes Hold: Tracking the Energy Revolution 2017. He regularly provides policy advice to government, testifies before regulatory and legislative bodies, and comments on energy issues for a wide range of media outlets. Dan holds degrees in environmental science and management, and conducted graduate research into corporate climate change strategy in the energy sector as a Social Science and Humanities Research Council scholar at Royal Roads University.

Barbara Zvan and her team provide liability and risk expertise focused on long-term Total Fund investment strategy, risk management and the governance framework. Ms. Zvan and her team are also charged with ensuring the Plan is sustainable, and that the funding risk is aligned to the Board's Risk Appetite Statement.
Ms. Zvan joined Ontario Teachers' in 1995 as an assistant portfolio manager and has risen to positions of increasing authority. As Chief Risk & Strategy Officer, she leads the Strategy & Risk team in supporting the Plan Sponsors in plan design decisions and the Board in determining the appropriate benchmarks and risk appetite. Ms. Zvan and her team provide input and risk insights to the Investing teams and create an effective risk management framework to underpin it. In addition, Ms. Zvan drives the responsible investing and climate change risk management and strategy for the Fund and directs the Enterprise and Operational Risk Management approach for the organization.
Ms. Zvan is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, and holds an M.Math from the University of Waterloo. She is the Chair of the International Centre of Pension Management (ICPM) and serves on the boards of Cadillac Fairview, Global Risk Institute and the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance.
