I have a readathon to share before you forget me!

Hey guys, it’s Amy! So… It’s been two weeks since I last posted. I’m rather ashamed of myself. Okay, granted, I left for camp on the 17th, so that was a week gone, but I totally planned to schedule posts for that time. Obviously, I haven’t been following my schedule. I kept putting it off, and not prioritizing what I need to do. I know I said a while ago that I was going to stop apologizing for not posting, but I thought it was necessary this time to let you all know that it didn’t go unnoticed. And also. THE FOLLOWER COUNT. OH MY GOSH. I CAN’T EVEN RIGHT NOW. I MEANT TO MAKE A POST BUT AS SOON AS I GOT BACK FROM CAMP NIKKI LEFT FOR CAMP AND AHHHHHHHHHHHH I CAN’T EVEN EEEEEEK! I didn’t even see us pass 500. It was like…. 435… 470… 560 WHAT. AND NOW WE ARE SO CLOSE TO 600. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH. YOU CAN BE ASSURED THAT I HAVE PLANS. BIG PLANS. YES. OKAY. LET’S MOVE ON WITH THE POST AS MY SCREAMING IS NOT VERY ATTRACTIVE. OBVIOUSLY. AHEM.

So…. I actually have been fairly consistent with my reading! I’m still averaging about 20 books behind schedule (I know- gasp!) but I’m WORKING ON IT. And I just recently got my shipment of 24 books. YES, I SAID 24. IT’S VERY EXCITING. Book HAUL TO COME. So I should be busy for a while. In any case. I’m still 20 books behind, and Aentee @ Read at Midnight came up with this AMAZING IDEA A.K.A. the read-a-thon.

What Is It?

The Pokemon Indigo League #ReadThemAllThon is a 3 weeks long reading challenge based on the Kanto’s Indigo League. Long-time fans of the series would recognise this as the first set of gyms Ash Ketchum had to conquer in his quest to become the Pokemon Master. Now you, my friends, will also embark on a journey to become the very best. Instead of fighting gym battles, you’ll be reading books instead!

When Is It?

The read-a-thon will run for 3 weeks between Sunday 14th August to Sunday 4th September.

That’s the most basic information, but if you want to know more and/or sign up, be sure to click on that link up there! The more the merrier!

In addition to the obvious book challenges, Aentee created an optional “points” challenge! I really love competition (although that’s not always such a good thing), so I will be participating! To get all the info and actually understand it, you’ll probably want to read the explanation she gives in the post (linked above) approximately ten times…. And then it starts to sound really fun.😄 I used to play Pokemon with my brother, but he grew out of it before I really got into it, so honestly, I have almost no knowledge of Pokemon…. So I searched Pokemon that can evolve twice and I’ve picked Piplup!

Who knows, maybe that’s a terrible decision. Now, I’m not sure EXACTLY when school starts. I’m kind of in denial right now, but it’s probably sometime around there. But HEY. It’s three weeks. THERE WILL BE PLENTY OF TIME FOR PARTICIPATING. WHICH IS WHY I’M AIMING TO READ ALL EIGHT BOOKS. Yes, really. Eight books/challenges. Okay…. The whole point of this post is to show you my TBR. *must compose*

For the first challenge, I’m going to read A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle. I had it on my TBR for the Make Me Read Read-a-thon, but I didn’t get around to it as it was farther down the list.

245 pages: Potential +24 CP

Old Yeller by Fred Gipson- Everyone always tells me I need to read this. And that they cried when reading it. Granted, it’s a pretty short book, but I’m going to be reading eight. And Aentee said the pages from additional books count for points, so… *shrugs*

117 pages: Potential +11 CP

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green- I’ve said I’ll read this time and time again, and yet here we are. I still haven’t read it, and of course, we all know about the hype surrounding this book.

313 pages: Potential +31 CP

Best Friends Through Eternity by Sylvia McNicoll- This is a book that I just got from Book Outlet! (AKA my recent haul) The main character is Chinese and her adoptive parents are Canadian… So hopefully it’s pretty diverse.

182 pages: Potential +18 CP

Plus One by Elizabeth Fama- It’s a forbidden romance; star-crossed lovers, if you will. And judging by that cover, pretty darn epic.

373 pages: Potential +37 CP

Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke- I’ve been meaning to read this book FOREVER. Seriously. And hello, dragons? Why not?

523 pages: Potential +52 CP

Inkheart by Cornelia Funke- Okay, I swear I did not intend to read two books by Cornelia Funke! I haven’t actually read anything by her yet. They’ve all been on my TBR for a while, though. I started reading this at one point, but never finished. However, it’s a super interesting concept, and I think I was in a reading slump at the time, so it deserves another shot.

534 pages: Potential +53 CP

Aquifer by Jonathan Friesen- This is another book from my latest “haul”. It’s set in the year 2250, and everything is going to pieces, so I think it’s probably post-apocalyptic.

303 pages: Potential +30 CP

I’m kind of a mood reader (okay, really a mood reader), and I’ve only picked books that I own, because I never know what I’ll have checked out from the library. Basically, this TBR is totally subject to change, and it’s not all that unlikely that it will. In any case, I’ll be keeping up to date with the points on my iPod and you can be sure you’ll be hearing from me on Twitter, with updates on points as well as books.

That’s basically it! Apologies for all the rambling and the two week break, but now I’m just getting over a cold and I’m looking forward to making more time to do bookish things like blogging, (obviously) reading, and bookstagramming! Toodles!
