A new set of character posters were released by 20th Century Fox for the upcoming book to Movie adaptation of Ransom Riggs’ Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children which totally intrigued me and totally ignited my want to really watch the movie once it comes out in theaters on September 30, 2016 (I’m hoping that it will also be the release date of the movie here in the Philippines). The pictures were released via the movie’s official Twitter account.

I’ve read Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children October last year and I was totally hooked. I was lucky enough to have found Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children: The Graphic Novel at a local thrift shop also last year which I have also read and reviewed (immediately after buying it). Then, since I was very curious what happened next I bought the sequel, Hollow City, which I’ve read and reviewed December of Last year. I have a copy of the third and final book, Library of Souls, which I am saving to read until November, ready for Halloween, and also partly because I really don’t want the series to end yet.😦

A lot of people feel the X-Men-y vibe from the movie which I totally understand as the book has children in it with supernatural powers. An unlikely 16-year old protagonist, by the name of Jacob Portman, stumbling upon a world with children with peculiar. They are taking refuge at Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children hiding from the monsters that wants to kill them. There were fight scenes where the children’s powers were exhibited and I am excited how it will turn out in the movie.  The book was praised with it’s use of vintage photos that added more intensity tto it’s plot.

Helping (the ever awesome) Tim Burton, the director, in making the movie is Jane Gouldman for the screenplay, who is noted for her works in X-Men: First Class, Stardust and Kingsman: The Secret Service and Bruno Delbonnel for the cinematography.

Watching the trailer, one can’t help to notice the changes on the movie. The movie follows the same plot but the power of Emma, the main protagonist’s love interest was changed. Instead of creating fire, it was interchanged to one of the other peculiar’s power, Olive’s, who can control the air and must always be weighed dwon or attached to a rope to keep her from floating away. Another change that was made was with Bronwyn and Olive. Their ages were interchanged. Olive became the awkward teenager and Bronwyn, who’s power is her super strength became the child.

In his Twitter account, Ransom Riggs showed her support to Burton’s decision.
