While Strategic Vulnerability is the fourth book in the Immortal Ops series, it could be read as a standalone as the romance is completely new and the back story to the events in the book are all explained. However, I do believe that the reader would have a better appreciation for the events in the book if they had read the previous books in the series.
I've been looking forward to reading this book since the end of the last one, especially as it was left a bit of a mystery how Wilson was faring. It is also worth noting that Kim appears in one of the spin off series (though I can't quite put my finger on which, which made reading her first scene, when she was with Brad and Vic, slightly odd for me!)
There was fantastic chemistry between Wilson and Kim, even if they didn't act on it for most of the book. Instead, the slow simmer worked very much in their favour and I thought that their relationship grew organically. This was especially key given the situation under which they met.
I think Wilson really grew on me in this book. Up until now he'd very much been the joker of the group and not really that much more. However, this book really brought him into his own and showed the reader that there was much more to him, mostly that he was an honourable man.
This was a great read, not that I expected any different from a Mandy M Roth book!
