Blaze contains a standalone romance between Sev and Cynthia, but does have links to the previous two books in the series, Spark and Flame. This kind of wrapped up everything from the previous books and let the reader know what happened to the cousins. This review is spoiler free.
I liked the chemistry between Sev and Cynthia, even if she was being a little stalkerish! The two of them had something good between them and even before they got physical there was something more growing between them,
The camaraderie between Sev, his cousin and his brother is strong all the way through the series and this book just underlined that. Sev was the caregiver of the group and looked out for his brother and cousin, sometimes putting himself second. It gave him a good depth of character.
There was a slight twist on Cynthia and I really liked it! There was far more to her than just a human woman that Sev comes across. She had a strength to her that he recognised, and the complex back story she had really added to the overall story.
This was a great read and I liked the nods to the other works by Pillow...I do have a theory connecting Gary to one of the other series too!
