When it comes to going undercover on dangerous missions in the name of making a better world, Twilight is a master spy. His reputation is even renowned beyond enemy lines. Perhaps even more impressive, he’s never seen a mission he couldn’t handle. Until now. When he receives the ultimate impossible assignment — which requires being married and having a kid — he realizes he finally may be in over his head.

Twilight has never been one to depend on others, but procuring a wife and child for his Fake Family is the only way he’ll be able to infiltrate Eden Academy, where he’ll cross paths with his mission’s target. Little does he realize that the wife he’s chosen is an assassin, and the child he’s adopted is a telepath.

Spy×Family has been on my radar for a while now. I first heard about it from a friend, and since we have similar reading tastes, I decided to finally give it a try.

At first, I was hesitant. This was the first Manga I’d ever read, and after a few pages I felt lost. Then I remembered than manga is supposed to be read right to left. My bad.

This was such a fun read, though! I loved the premise and the plot is fast-paced with great illustrations. There’s enough of a mystery behind the story to make the series super intriguing, while also creating an endearing fake family of unique characters.

Overall, with its heartwarming story and action-filled pages, Spy×Family is a great introduction for anyone looking to try manga or graphic novels. 

RATING

Rated: Mild. For one or two uses of mild language. Intermittent blood and violence make an appearance, and while some details are shown, it doesn’t seem too gory due to its manga style and black-and-white illustrations.
