You either love them or hate them, but kids’ parties have to be done, whether it be going to someone else’s house or preparing your home for your own. They can be fun, they can be stressful, and they take an awful lot of organizing.

While it may be the living room, dining room, or garden that sees the majority of the action, with all manner of ideas available, plenty will be going on in the Kitchen, and it’s in the kitchen where things are most likely to go wrong, so you need to be organized.

Getting your kitchen ready for a kids’ Party can be a quick job, but it’s a must-do job too, and here are the must-do things you need to get on with so it’s ready for when the children and parents arrive.

REMOVE ALL SHARP OBJECTS

YES. REMOVE ALL SHARP OBJECTS. It goes without saying really, but there can be rogue sharp objects around the kitchen that aren’t put away, from corkscrews to scissors. It’s so important to keep them hidden away and ideally out of reach of small children to ensure no accidents happen.

It’s one of the worst things that can happen at a kid’s party. And it does happen, so make sure it doesn’t at yours.

Keep all alcohol out of sight

Similarly, nobody wants to see a drunk four-year-old. They don’t know any better and may see a glass of beer on the counter and get stuck in. For the sake of the children, it’s important to keep alcohol out of reach and sight, while for those parents that do have a glass, ensure that they keep an eye on it.

Equally, these days many parents don’t drink and you may not know their circumstances. More people than ever suffer from addiction and it may be that a parent has gone through a detox clinic.

While it may be pretty catastrophic to see your neighbor’s child with a bottle of Budweiser in their hand, it’d be even more so if you enabled another parent to relapse.

Decorate and have help yourself sections

There will always be people dipping in and out of the kitchen at parties, so make sure that it’s just as festive as the other rooms in the house. People will come in for drinks and snacks, so lay out the kitchen in a manner where it’s easy for kids to pick up what they need, so they aren’t rummaging through cupboards and finding things they shouldn’t.

This way, it’ll be a fun, safe, and successful party, and one your child will look back in years to come very fondly.
