Moms have a hard enough job as it is. There are plenty of fun and easy projects you can get into to keep your kids happy. After all, you should be able to have fun too. Here are smart DIY’s for moms to try.

Why Moms Should DIY

As a mother, you take on many tasks each day. Switching your everyday tasks to something new, like a DIY project, can add more fun to your life. You are still doing a task for your kids that will make them feel great.

DIYing allows you to focus on a plan and work with your hands. You can feel a sense of empowerment when you create something on your own. When you create something on your own and feel all the good feelings it brings, it is beneficial to your overall well-being.

You can track your progress for every DIY you accomplish or write about how each made you feel and your reasoning behind it. Creating meaningful things for your children will allow the joy to spread.

Frame Tent

Not only is it easy to make, but your kids will love this little hideaway space. With only a couple of pieces, you’ll be able to create a functional and fun tent for your children to play in.

All you will need is a few pieces of wood, a cloth, a blanket or curtain, and a drill. Set it up in a tent style and drape your fabric over the top. This exciting tent will create a place for imagination to flourish.

Tic-Tac-Toe

Making your own tic-tac-toe board is a fun and interactive way to bond with your children. You can teach your kids the concept and play together.

All you need to make this game is something that can represent the board. You can paint 3×3 gride lines on it. To make the pieces, you can get creative and find rocks or any object you can paint. Creating two distinct designs will represent each player.

Ruler Growth Chart

You can make DIY to spice up your home decorations. As your kids grow, you can create a cute decoration for your home to show it off. Every kid gets excited to see how much they have grown, but it can be difficult to notice a change.

All you need is a wooden plank with some markers or paint. You can create what looks like a lifesize ruler and add pictures on the wall when they measure in at that height.

Chalkboard

Chalkboards can be made out of chalkboard paint. You can add a section of a playroom or in the bedroom that allows fun drawings on the wall that are not off-limits. There are endless ways to use chalkboard paint and it is one of the easiest DIYs you can do.

Drying Rack

If you have a small laundry room, there is a  better option than squeezing a drying rack. You can create a functional drying rack that hangs against your wall. There is no need to sacrifice your decorations because you can customize them with any stylish colors you like.

This DIY is a little more complicated since you will work with brackets and hinges to pull out the section to hang your clothes on, but it is worth it. Specific garments are not meant to be tumbled-dried, so it is essential to have a drying rack available.

Chalkboard Menu

If you decide to do a chalkboard in your playroom, you will likely have leftover paint. You can create a menu for the week in your kitchen. Get creative with the style of your menu to match the theme of your kitchen.

You can list what is for dinner each day of the week to avoid the notorious question, “what’s for dinner tonight?”

Gift Wrapping Station

Birthdays and holidays come around faster than you anticipate. To avoid being unprepared for these moments, you can create a gift-wrapping station.

All you need to make this is a stool and some fabric with storage pockets. You connect the pockets to each section of the chair. Once they are all connected, you can place wrapping paper inside and all the essentials like tape, bows, and name tags in the pockets.

Tear Away Lists

Nothing is worse than getting to the store after you forgot to grab your list. Although it is sure to happen now and then, having a tear-away list can help grab your attention.

All you need is a roll of paper that can get mounted on the wall. It creates an easy way to write things down that you need. Be sure to grab the list before heading out the door.
