Facebook and Tsu - David and Goliath perhaps?

tsu is a social platform similar to Facebook that allows users to earn revenue from their original content. Up until three months ago, users were able to promote their posts and recruit new members on Facebook.

However, siting excessive spam, Facebook:

  • Stopped users posting anything that contained
  • Stopped users sending personal messages containing
  • Deleted all references to including those in old messages.
  • Blocked tsu's Facebook API.
Now it is true that there was some pretty aggressive recruiting done on Facebook,  but the facts do not match the accusation according to tsu.

Using the Facebook's API Data taht is shared with tsu, the reported frequency (spam frequency) is roughly one-third the spam frequency of the average Facebook, Inc. API-integrated application.

So rather than being an attempt to block spam, this seems to be an attempt to control competition, and monopolize the industry (Instagram, who are owned by Facebook also blocked tsu).

One wonders why a multi-billion dollar company with billions of users would block tsu - tsu is a fledgling company that has 4 million users with probably only a couple of hundred thousand active users.
