5th April – The English Rebel

The English Rebel by David Horspool is a glorious book to read through for high-level information about the various plots, revolts, and rebellions that have taken place in England since 1066. The English appear to have never been entirely happy with their king and have frequently decided to try and do something about it, with limited success it should be said.

However, it should be remembered the English did behead their king 144 years before the French did the same thing as well forcing King John to sign Magna Carta 574 years before the Bill of Rights in the USA, so those rebels were getting things done at certain times in history.

The rebels range from the well known such as Hereward the Wake and Guy Fawkes to the not so well known such as Lady Jane Grey and Lambert Simnel. All in all, this book is worth reading and you will learn something new on every page.
