Book Review -

A Moment of Faith is the first Book in The Kardhal Trilogy written by Martin Svaneborg. This historical fiction is based on a Danish philosopher and poet, SØren Kirkegaard, and his fiance Regine Schlegel. At the same time, the story in the present revolves around Christian Kardhal and Emma, who embarks on a path to save the cathedral.

Christian and Emma came together to unravel the centuries-old mystery without knowing each other very well. The plot setting is in Copenhagen, where the author narrates two stories simultaneously connected to each other, but at the same time too distinct.

Fate and faith intertwine in this book. They soon became acquaintances and travel to London to find some document that holds the answer to all their questions. Their quest leads them to dangerous situations and coincidences one after the other.

Christian and Emma's love angle seems very much alike to SØren and Regine's. But there is a chance that they can find their way to each other in the future while SØren broke his engagement with Regine. Still, they love and care for each other; what Regine did for her lover is the base for Christian and Emma's journey.

The story is full of dramatic events that kept me hooked. The transition between the 18th century and the present day was so smooth that I felt the book kept going, and I'm glad that there are two more books in the pipeline which I am so keen to read. Martin Svaneborg didn't give me a single point to rant about; everything was perfect, whether characters, narration, language, wordplay, or editing.

The story is enhanced with some beautiful letters written by SØren to Regine, which is mainly my favorite section. If you enjoy reading historical romance fiction, this one is for you. I highly recommend it.
