THE CITIES BENEATH | A graphic novel |

Publisher : Praveen Vempadapu for Syenagiri

Writer : Jai Undurti

Artist : Fabian Stoltz

Syenagiri, a Vizag based publishing house, insists on creating complex images. And 'The Cities Beneath is no exception. It is less a graphic novel. And more a game of snake and ladder. But in 3D.

I keep visiting the book and each time take something new away. I can’t put my finger on it. Is it the drawing? Is it the writing? dunno.

So, it’s basically this. A Hyderabadi joins the army and is sent to the front WWI. You know Hyderabadis na. They don't go straight line. He takes the trench warfare a step further and goes deeper. And lo. There is another world down there. As fate would have it, he bonds up with a German and comes across some unheard-of life here. And then they find an underground city. What does he look for here? Yes, Irani chai.

Visualise all this and it will create a thrilling story.

And before you know it, he is in Hamburg borrowing a cell phone to call home. Just keep in mind the calling code for both the Cities is '040'.

There is lot more.

So why are you waiting, grab a copy of this graphic novel and enjoy.
