WWW Wednesday #6

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Taking on a World of Words. But! Classy X Book Reviews are the ones who inspired me to play each week and to share what I’m reading as I attack the tbr pile. To join in the WWW party, just answer the three question in the post.

January was a month of temperamental and tumultuous reading. Most of the month was spent re-reading favorites or losing myself to the romance stack, but most of the books I read were DNF or meh or I just couldn’t start them. It was weird. It was a weird month of fleeting reading funks. Ever experience that? Where you want to read, but nothing seems to scratch that itch? Anyways, here is what I ended up reading.

What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading Dead Silence by S.A. Barnes, a Science Fiction Horror story that Netgalley and the publisher graciously sent me. I am hellbent on finishing it I also finally got around to reading Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews, book #7 in the Kate Daniels series. So far, I’m loving it. Wishing for more of those Curran-Kate moments, though. These two cannot catch a break!

What did you read recently?

Dark Lies (Wolf-Bound 3#) by Veronica Douglas dropped at the end of January, and, of course, I HAD TO READ IT. This was one of my most anticipated reads of 2022, and I have no regrets. I also read Kiss the Fae by Natalia Jaster, which was okay. It wasn’t the best. The love interest was off-putting. And the main character wasn’t the most compelling. But we can chat about that later.

What will you read next?

Declaring the next in line to be read feels like a lie sometimes. Because I am SO TERRIBLE at sticking to a reading plan. That said, I do have two books I would like to tacking next.

I snagged an arc of The Justice of Kings by Richard Swan on Netgalley, and I would love to dive into it soon. It releases February 22nd, so I need to jump on it soon.

As for the second book, I’m hoping to read (and enjoy) The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley. It’s one of the books I picked for the February prompt of the Adult SFF Backlist Books challenge. I’ve had several fellow participants tell me this book is SO FREAKING GOOD, and I hope to love it just as much as they did.

What are you reading right now?
