MY THOUGHTS

I enjoy cooking competitions and Masterchef Australia is one of my go-to. I picked this book because I wanted to read some light rom-com and what is better than a cooking competition rom-com?
Sadie is going through a bad phase after her job ended at the restaurant where she was quite content. She is looking for a job, any job, instead she got an interview call from her favorite cooking show Chef Supreme. That’s the perfect opportunity to prove her mettle in the cooking world and get noticed by big names. She met Luke, also a chef, on the way to NY and these few hours’ companionships ended with an exchange of numbers and promises.

This book was easy to get into and it was easy to imagine everything after watching so many episodes of Masterchef. The problem was the story or maybe I was the problem. I felt like nothing was new in this story. No twists, no turns, no romance, no page-turning moments. The writing style of the initial chapters felt different from the rest of the book. There wasn’t any romance and neither did Sadie have any self-respect. There wasn’t any character development. Most of the characters were obviously fillers because someone has to be eliminated every week. Sadie’s relationship with her family was one-dimensional. I didn’t enjoy Luke and Sadie’s chemistry, Luke was kind of an asshole then suddenly change of mind and I ended up with a lot of questions but my answers might fell from the plot holes.

It wasn’t a bad book by any means but it wasn’t up to my expectations.
