Rule of Wolves (King of Scars #2)-Book Review

The Grishaverse will be coming to Netflix soon with Shadow and Bone, an original series!

The wolves are circling and a young king will face his greatest challenge in the explosive finale of the instant #1 New York Times-bestselling King of Scars Duology.

The Demon King. As Fjerda’s massive army prepares to invade, Nikolai Lantsov will summon every bit of his ingenuity and charm—and even the monster within—to win this fight. But a dark threat looms that cannot be defeated by a young king’s gift for the impossible.

The Stormwitch. Zoya Nazyalensky has lost too much to war. She saw her mentor die and her worst enemy resurrected, and she refuses to bury another friend. Now duty demands she embrace her powers to become the weapon her country needs. No matter the cost.

The Queen of Mourning. Deep undercover, Nina Zenik risks discovery and death as she wages war on Fjerda from inside its capital. But her desire for revenge may cost her country its chance at freedom and Nina the chance to heal her grieving heart.

King. General. Spy. Together they must find a way to forge a future in the darkness. Or watch a nation fall.

MY THOUGHTS

“Love was the destroyer. It made mourners, widows, left misery in its wake. Grief and love were one and the same. Grief was the shadow love left when it was gone.”

It is the last book of Grisha verse (as many sources claimed). I don’t know how to properly review this book. It was supposed to be that mega closure, with everything fixing in their places. I read KOS just last month and enjoyed many parts of it. It’s been a day since I’ve finished it and I still can’t process the events properly. It took me around a week to finish it because it didn’t keep me hooked. It wasn’t boring but the pace definitely was the fun killer. I really liked the first part of the book. You can literally see all the gears in the brains moving, all the plans of political tactics. So, we’ll get to see a final war.

“Of course, Nikolai was the liar here. But kings did what they wished; bastards did what they must.”

Spoilers start

Spoilers end

There were so many tracks and enough of them were boring. I skimmed a good chunk of it. The ending didn’t try to windup thing, It felt rushed and big holes and question marks were just there. The last chapters were so disappointing and the last two line. When authors will learn to stop stretching their successful books.

“Maybe the gift of being human is that we do not give up- even when all hope is lost.”
