Writing Start: 9:18
Finish: 2:53
Total New Words (est.): 700
Edited (est.): 5200 + 6 poems

Tasks

1. Book Three Melody: 400 new words
Notes: So many times when I've gotten down about myself and the state of the world, I come back to Melody. There is no amount of money I'd trade for her. If writing her means I won't make another dime in my life, so be it. She has been, in countless ways, the Pearl of Great Price for my life. I'll let you struggle with that (seeming) contradiction.

2. Fractalverse VI: Second stage edit of the fourth set of six poems

3. Dreamcatcher: 300 new words
Notes: This is a grand, epic, and ultimately optimistic tale. But lord, does our protagonist go through some serious crap first!

4. Cheapery St. Heroes Book Three: First primary edit of chapter three

5. Firefly: Off till 4/8

6. Angel: Book Three: Edited what I've written in chapter eight so far

7. Stories from the Quiet: Off

8. The Good Place: Off

Transcribing Montaigne: Off

----------------

Thought of the Day: It isn't uncommon for me to wake with the startling realization of some fact of my life.

These days, it's: Jesus, I'm almost sixty years old!

   Thirty was just yesterday.

It's a balancing act. On the one hand, there's all this pressure to get up, get on this computer, and write, write, write! After all, I'm almost sixty. Add that simple bump of time that feels like "yesterday," and there I am, almost ninety. Frickin' mind-blowing, that is.

On the other, there is that pesky concept of balance: looking at the world, eating good food, gardening and gaming, hanging out with my wife, listening to music, sleeping, cooking. It's ironic, but the more I fight for that balance, the more accessible my writing becomes. I struggle less for words; and my editing feels much more seamless.

It's all very difficult, and sometimes messy, and sometimes depressing and anxiety-inducing. I have no answers, let alone easy ones. I'm not sure any exist.
