7. Firefly: Read-through
Notes: I can seen the end of this chapter. Maybe another week--?

8. Rapscallion: Read-through

Special: None today

Extra notes: I've got a small workday coming tomorrow--just three tasks. If I can get up enough gumption, I'll get back to work on my illustration for Book Three of Melody.

I finished chapter twelve today. It's another foundational chapter, as chapter eleven is, and as several others in this volume are as well. This is where the story starts coming into more and more focus, where for the most part I've introduced the principal characters and am now aiming, more and more, at the story's denouement. At this point I can see maybe three more "main" books and maybe four or five more "sidestories."

The next book in the series is a sidestory--The Failure of the Saeire Insu. I'm twenty-two chapters into it at this point, with maybe four or five to go. It has been without a doubt the hardest story in the series to write. There are just so many plot-points to maintain, and connections to both draw on from the past and new, important ones to explore, along with research on tall ships, cartography, creating its cover, and so on. It's been a real struggle, this story, one I think will be ready for launch sometime late next year.

Book Three, which will come out after it, promises to be large, perhaps as large as Book One. I want to give readers a completely immersive experience with Melody and the Pier to Forever. I want them to have a solid sense of its epic foundations, the many characters in it from disparate parts of both Aquanus and Earth, and their stories too. I want to bring them together to the center of Aquanus, where the final battle plays out (of course), and for them feel the massiveness of it all, from Melody's powers as a Mathematician, to the battle waiting for the Saeire Insu against the Imperials, to Necrolius' ever-greater powers, and so on. This is, after all, the story about saving two worlds, not just one.

When will Book Three be released? Who knows? I have no idea.

For those few of you who have kept up with Melody, let me thank you here, and also promise that you'll be very glad you waited.
