The public beaches of Tamarin are well-known to surfers for its big waves. 'Dai' and 'Black Stone' are the two renowned surfing spots on Tamarin Bay. Tamarin has developed into a managed residential and commercial holiday area. Salt pans covering about 30 hectares are fed by salt water directly from the sea where it evaporates and the salt is harvested a few days later. This tradition of salt production has remained more or less the same for two centuries.
