El pasado viernes 11 de agosto tuvo lugar la 75ª edición de la Worldcon, esta vez celebrada en Helsinki. En esta convención se entregan los premios Hugo y el John W. Campbell.

La ceremonia de los premios fue presentada por la escritora de Barbados Karen Lord.

Debido a problemas técnicos no pudo ser retransmitida en su canal oficial de YouTube, aunque pudimos verlo por streaming a través de algunos asistentes. No obstante, próximamente podrá ser vista íntegramente a través de su canal.

Lo más destacable es el predominio absoluto de la mujer. Así, el premio a la mejor novela ha sido para The Obelisk Gate, de N. K. Jemisin y que publicará Ediciones B para su colección Nova a lo largo del año que viene. La mejor novela corta ha sido Every Heart a Doorway, de Seanan McGuire, con la que obtuvo anteriormente el Locus y el Nebula. Esta obra será publicada el 15 de marzo de 2018 por Runas. El mejor relato corto ha sido Seasons of Glass and Iron de Amal El-Mohtar. El mejor relato ha sido The Tomato Thief de Ursula Vernon. La mejor saga de novelas ha sido La saga de Vorkosigan, de Lois McMaster Bujold. Worlds are my Matter: Writings about Life and Books, de Ursula K. Le Guin ha obtenido el premio a la mejor obra relacionada.
