Hugo Duchamp, a Frenchman living and working as a policeman in London is about to have his world turned upside down. Called upon to return to his native country where he has not been for over a decade, Hugo finds himself embroiled in the murder of a child and a town ripe with corruption, warned not to investigate the first murder he soon has no choice when a second child is murdered.
The first in a new series of exciting adventures with a very modern and different hero.
A compelling story that’s well worth a read, November 14, 2016
Hugo Duchamp Investigates: Un Homme Qui Attend, crafts a French policeman who has been working abroad in London as an investigator for over a decade. However, when he’s called back home to investigate the death of a child, the event proliferates with town politics and special interests.
The result is a compelling story, and this is part of what makes this such an impressive read. As the layers of long-held town secrets begin to get peeled back and the possibility of more children in danger, Hugo edges increasingly closer to a truth that begins to engorge and destroy long-held secrets that flank Hugo’s own world. In the end, it all comes down to love and revenge, and the consequences that result.
This energetic detective, his French culture, and his love life promises something enjoyably different in the world of investigative mysteries. The story had every element a good story should have. An exciting plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. There’s an abundance of well illustrated scenes that really make you feel like you are right there in the story, and that’s something I really look for in a good book.
It’s one of those stories that come along once in awhile that makes you want to read it non-stop until you get to the end. I don’t do spoilers so I’m giving nothing further away here. And this, I hope, will only add to the mystery and enjoyment for the reader!
This would be a highly recommended read from me to all fans of the Mystery/Thriller genre. This new series of exciting adventures has a very modern and different hero. Without a doubt, I’ll be looking forward to reading more from G N Hetherington in the future! Five stars from me.
