Death of a Messenger by Robert McCaw

This Book is set in Hawaii, as were the previous two I read, Fire and Vengence and Off Grid.

The main protagonist is Chief Detective Koa who is trying to avoid politics and solve crimes.  This is the first book in the series.   I, now, recommend all three of them.   Detective Koa is called in on a brutal, ritualistic murder.   His boss, the Chief of Police, is easily swayed by political considerations.   The murder is complicated by the fact that it is on a US Navy live-fire range and may bring many island notables in for scrutiny.

The setting of the book is beautifully crafted by McCaw.   You can smell the dust, feel the humidity and shiver in the snow!  (Didn’t expect that last one, did you?)

There are a wealth of characters that somehow does not become confusing.   The plot is intricate and the ending is carefully hidden in the weeds.

I enjoyed the book and Koa’s implacable tenacity.

This book may have been received free of charge from a publisher or a publicist. That will NEVER have a bearing on my recommendations. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases if you click on a purchasing link below.#CommissionsEarned
