AWWA Literature Festival: Abhivyakti Season 2 at Jaipur

It was a matter of immense pride for me to attend Army Wives Welfare Association-organised Lit Fest in Jaipur. A Literary extravaganza of another dimension which provided platforms to many budding, established authors, entrepreneurs and artists. The organising team under the able guidance of Mrs Ravneet Bhinder President AWWA South Western Command had put up an amazing show. There were food stalls, entertainment corners, and decorative selfie corners highlighting books and stories as their central themes. There were hundreds of shows showcasing the talent of Army wives achievers and also of Army families and guests. All the guests who were invited to the AWWA Lit Fest were associated with the Military in some way or the other. Even the Celebrity guests like Roadies famed Ranvijay, and Princess diya Kumari Nitu Palta belonged to Army backgrounds. Army wives authors who are making waves on the national front like Swapnil Pandey Rachna Bisht Rawat to budding aspiring army wife authors were also invited. Many of them got the golden opportunity to get their books launched on such a platform. For many army brats who are bringing accolades to the army fraternity, it was homecoming. The well moderated panels by seasoned anchors where army wives expressed themselves and showcased their talent in jam-packed auditoriums were well received. The AWWA Lit fest was organised at Jawahar Kala Kendra so that more and more people could join and witness the Army culture. It was an attempt to facilitate an easy flow of communication between the common masses and the armed forces fraternity. Though the event was focused on providing a platform only to people from military families we can hope as the AWWA Lit Fest grows into more seasons AWWA Lit fest 3 or 4 we can certainly hope that the participants will be open to the masses as well. Army Wives Welfare Association is India’s biggest NGO famous for its philanthropist and humanitarian work for army families. This lit fest is just one among the hundred welfare programs that AWWA runs all across the country. Sharing some of the pictures from the event highlighting the event opening session named ‘The Force behind The Forces’ where the author Swapnil Pandey along with Sowmya Nagappa, Sarika Gulati, and trupti Nair whose stories she has featured in her book shared their journey of writing the book and how Army wives are playing an immense role in nation building. All her books Soldier’s Girl, and Love Story of a Commando which are fiction highlight the struggles of military relationships. Her books are an attempt to keep Army Wives at the centre stage and thus no platform could have been more appropriate to put across the characters of her novels. The session was exclusively attended by Mrs Archana Pande wife of Indian Army Chief Lt General Manoj Pande and AWWA President India. She told the author that the force behind the forces was unputdownable and she wished her all the very best for the future. Her kind gesture of meeting the author and all her fellow panellist touched many hearts. May the tribe of Army wives grow more to strengthen the values and ethics army families stands for. Sharing some exclusive pictures straight from the event.
