In an amazing collaboration just announced on Twitter, music superstars Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, and Lana Del Rey are teaming up for the new Charlies Angels movie.
According to a tweet by Grande, the song drops on September 13, and literally no one is ready for this.
A trailer for the new movie was just recently released, giving Angels fans everywhere a little more than speculation to go on for the latest installment of this classic.
Directed by Elizabeth Banks, who is known for movies like The Hunger Games, Pitch Perfect, and Wet Hot American Summer, this Angels movie is set to be a continuation of the 2000s movie starring Drew Barrymore, Lucy Lui, and Cameron Diaz.
This new flick, which should hit theaters November 15, stars Kristen Stewart, Ella Balinska, and Naomi Scott as the Angels working for Townsend Agency, a global security and intelligence service.
There is no one “Bosley” that will be giving the Angels direction and advice, but instead, Bosley will be a title within the agency. Banks herself will play Bosley, along with Patrick Stewart and Djimon Hounsou.
The theme of this Angel’s movie is about female empowerment and working together, which is a common thread within the series. In an interview, Banks said that she didn’t want to make a movie about the Angel’s love lives or family ties, but instead wanted to show how awesome the ladies actually were.
The Teaser for the Song
Banks has previously said that she wanted an empowerment theme that was reminiscent of the song “Independent Women” by Destiny’s Child, so we are all hopeful that this collaboration will bring that and more.
Grande’s tweet gives us almost nothing about the song itself. The video is only 7 seconds, it features a beat (barely) and shows a short clip of the girls walking.
Grande and Del Ray are both wearing knee-high black boots, while Miley appears to be rocking black leather pants. All three are dressed in all black, with stylized black wings.
Grande has her signature high ponytail, while Cyrus and Del Ray have their hair down around their shoulders.
You don’t have to wait long – Grande says that “Don’t Call Me Angel” will debut on September 13, so just two days from now. It is directed by Hannah Lux Davis, who worked with Grande on videos like “Boyfriend”, “7 Rings”, “Breathin”, and “Side to Side”.
She has also directed videos for DJ Kaled, Demi Lovato, Machine Gun Kelley, Halsey, and more.
Check out Grande’s teaser here and get excited for Friday!
