Ever since the internet revolution started, artists from around the world launched their ideas enveloped into new artistic couture. This brought about a change in the way people dress for their weddings. The signature Lehengas in crimson reds worn with hordes of gold jewelry soon got replaced by the hues of neons, pastels, and whites. Brides of India shifted from carrying the mainstream looks to going off-beat designs which suited their personality.

While the new touch of art into wedding couture definitely pleased the eyes, the beauty of the traditional Indian craft on the red bridal lehengas started going off from the wedding scenes. The colors like greens, blues, creams and whites with emerald and ruby jewelry brought about a fresh touch to the bridal wear.

But if we look at some of the recent weddings that revered the headlines, the brides are seen adoring the veils, and traditional style sarees that were once an epitome of traditions and culture in India.

As a bride, Priyanka Chopra set the fashion trends on fire when she paired an embellished crimson red lehenga with a long veil covering her face. And in the Christian rituals of her marriage, she adored a 75-feet long tail that made a statement of its own. Ever since the picture made rounds on the internet, Indian Brides picked the style back and a number of brides were seen dressing with a contemporary touch.

And with Deepika Padukone’s picturesque red dupatta over her traditional red lehenga, the inclination towards the Sanskrit scripts with golden touch has returned back to the scene. Some brides replicated the signature look covering themselves up in traditional style attires for their D-Day.

Saree – A preferred choice for modern Indian brides!

A modern woman enjoys the western style of clothing. With the formal wears, indo-western kurtas, skirts, and shirts – the revering feel of sarees had been long lost. But when it is about attending a wedding, festival times or an ethnic day – sarees do make a presence! And for the traditional Indian brides, it has become an ‘IT’ choice for their wedding day.

Kanjeevaram and silks with their zari and kasavu borders have been seen making a presence in the bridal couture. With traditional jewelry made of gold, diamonds, and pearls matched with flowers like rajnigandha and roses – the sarees make for quite a statement. The Malayali, Assamese, Maharashtrian and Bengali brides have been inclined towards picking sarees for their wedding wear.

Setting new trends!

For the fashion savvy India, bridal wear is about picking statement pieces to adore for their D-Day. Be it with a modern touch or a traditional saree trends matter! The number of brides are choosing to add the trails and veils to their bridal wear to bring that extra oomph.  Although the reds are still far from the picture, the veils today are adorned for the bridal entry, sangeet and even mehendi ceremonies.

The sangeet gowns and bachelorette wears come with a contemporary touch while adding details of long tails. From Deepika Padukone highlighting her ivory and gold chikankari ensemble by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla with a long duppatta to the regular Indian bride adding trails to her lehengas – the statement traditional looks are back in fashion.
